The textile and clothing industry has been Nanchang’s main export industry for many years. Whether Nanchang’s export-oriented economy is booming, clothing exports can be said to be the weather vane. The reporter learned from the Nanchang Customs High-tech Office on February 19, 2013 that according to the just-released January statistical report, Nanchang’s clothing export value reached US$200 million, an increase of 135.5%. There is a rare blowout phenomenon in clothing exports. The industry pointed out that this is due to both the time window and the rebound of the real economic effects and the global economic recovery.

By convention, after years of stable development, the export growth of an industry generally maintains a growth rate of 10% to 50%. If the growth exceeds 80%, it can be called a blowout. Since 2012, affected by the sluggish demand in the international market, Nanchang, like many other places across the country, has continued to experience a downturn in the textile and apparel industry.

According to statistics, from January to November 2012, China’s clothing exports declined for 11 consecutive months. Data show that in January 2013, my country’s exports of textiles and clothing were approximately US$24.691 billion, a year-on-year increase of 14.74%. According to the person in charge of the High-tech Office of Nanchang Customs, compared with other regions across the country, Nanchang’s clothing export value reached US$200 million, an increase of 135.5%. This growth is rare. When such a situation arises, the relevant person in charge of the High-tech Office of Nanchang Customs analyzed that this year’s Chinese New Year is in February, last year it was in January. Many foreign trade companies focus on exporting before the Spring Festival this year so as not to affect the Spring Festival holiday. In addition, there are also reasons for the recovery of the real economic effects. In addition to the traditional Southeast Asian market, Nanchang companies have recently expanded their export markets to the EU, ASEAN, and the United States in order to compete for the market and corporate survival.
