Although foreign fibers rarely occur in synthetic fibers, different gloss levels will be produced due to different fiber qualities. When these fibers are mixed, bad yarns with uneven brightness will be produced in the subsequent production process. At present, factories mainly use human eye recognition to solve this problem, but it is time-consuming and extremely costly. Therefore, Indonesian PT. Superbtex Company wrote to the Swiss Loepfe Company, hoping to find a simpler and more effective solution to overcome this problem. The two companies have since worked together to deliver encouraging results.
Different fibers contain different brightness
PT.Superbtex Group is a textile company headquartered in Indonesia. It owns a large Indonesian spinning mill with 54,000 spindles and mainly produces polyester yarn. “We use several different polyester fibers, which are of different qualities and therefore have different gloss levels.” Sendjaja, Head of PT. Superbtex Group Halim said, “We cannot completely distinguish the difference in brightness with the human eye. The alternative to direct visual inspection of the spinning spindle is to inspect it under UV light. But even then, the difference is difficult to see with the naked eye. If it is on the network After the bobbin is inspected, the problematic yarn located on the inner layer of the bobbin cannot be distinguished even under ultraviolet light, let alone using labor. Such problem yarns can lead to defects in the following production processes, such as when used as warp yarns in the weaving process. Horizontal stripes; uneven dyeing may also occur during the dyeing process, so a defective bobbin may cause expensive claims from customers.

Foreign fiber removal function with new features
The above-mentioned problem of different brightness can be solved by installing Swiss Loepfe’s YARNMASTER ZENIT+ electronic yarn clearer with the function of detecting foreign fibers and color deviation in the winding machine. The electronic yarn clearer’s new function of detecting and eliminating slight color shifts in hemp yarn has been successfully developed. The new color shift detection function uses F-foreign fiber sensor, which uses multi-faceted angle light sources to detect yarn defects, and uses a special calculation method to convert the signals generated by the reflection and transmission of light into brightness differences, thereby clearing the yarn. The brightness of the detected yarn can be automatically adjusted according to the basic color brightness reference value of the yarn. By setting various parameters, users can select high-difference setting standards.

Test settings
Loepfe has already conducted extensive trials of this new feature in spinning mills under the PT. Superbtex Group. On the Savio Eco Pulsar winding machine equipped with the YARNMASTER ZENIT+ electronic yarn clearer including color shift function, Ne 40 polyester yarn with two brightness levels of ultra-bright and matte was used for testing, proving that it can detect Bad bobbins for all brightness differences. In the actual application of polyester yarn in PT. Superbtex spinning mill, it has also been proved that it can 100% detect problematic bobbins during the winding process to ensure the quality of the final product. By adding the color shift function, Lofi has successfully established a new detection benchmark. With this new function, the range of applications of the YARNMASTER ZENIT+ electronic yarn clearer becomes even wider.
